Beginning Tai Chi Classes

New Location Announced for Southfield Classes

Monday evening Beginning Tai Chi classes from 6 to 7 p.m. will now be held at the Franklin Athletic Club in Southfield. This class is for all beginners ages 14–100+ and is for learning the Yang Family Tai Chi Hand Form from certified Yang Family Tai Chi Instructor Holly Malloy. Malloy has been practicing martial arts for over 30 years; practicing Tai Chi for 25 years; and teaching tai chi for over 12 years at Sola Life and Fitness, Oak Park Community Center and the Martial Science Center Dojo.

“There are numerous studies done showing the effectiveness of tai chi for improving balance and memory, strengthening the legs, reducing stress, lowering blood pressure, easing arthritic pain plus many other ailments," says Malloy. "It is a holistic approach to wellness and is deemed a moving meditation.

There is an additional Beginning Tai Chi class held Saturdays on Zoom from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. During warmer weather, this Saturday morning class will be held in person at the Royal Oak VFW Park at the corner of Lincoln and Campbell.
